Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment that utilizes a series of removable, clear aligners to address mild to moderate levels of teeth misalignment or bite concerns. The plastic aligners are custom-designed to gradually move the teeth into better alignment and improve signs of spacing, crowding, and other orthodontic concerns.
One of the major benefits of Invisalign® is the way in which the system is designed to work. Invisalign® is composed of several sets of customized, clear aligners. Each set of aligners has a slight degree of modification from the one that comes before it, allowing for steady, gradual repositioning of the teeth. Some of the many advantages offered by Invisalign® include:
Invisalign® and traditional braces are distinct in several ways. While there is no doubt that traditional braces can help patients effectively and successfully address teeth misalignment and bite concerns, the fact is that braces often involve certain drawbacks that can make those who wear them uncomfortable and self-conscious about the appearance of their smile. Invisalign® uses absolutely no metal brackets or wires whatsoever, and can be worn discreetly at work, school, during social events, and throughout your day without worrying about how they look on your teeth. When compared to braces, Invisalign® also usually does not require as many trips back to the dentist for maintenance, and many patients are able to achieve optimal results from Invisalign® in less time.
It’s important to note that both of these orthodontic options have proven success rates, and the best option will ultimately depend on each patient’s unique needs. In cases of more severe orthodontic concerns, braces may be a more ideal treatment. Once you meet with Dr. Vereen for an initial, complimentary Invisalign® consultation and oral evaluation, he can determine whether Invisalign® is the best procedure for your goals.
Once your customized treatment plan is developed, the first step of the Invisalign® process involves creating a digital impression of your teeth. This impression will serve as the basis for producing your Invisalign® clear teeth aligners. Our office utilizes the state-of-the-art iTero® digital scanner for dental impressions, which can provide patients with a faster, more comfortable experience while creating extraordinarily precise and accurate results. Based on the digital impression, a series of custom-designed Invisalign® aligners will be manufactured and provided to you. Each set of aligners will be worn for about two weeks, and then replaced with the next set of aligners in the series. Periodic follow-up appointments will be scheduled so we can monitor overall progress throughout the treatment experience.
In many cases, patients are able to achieve the best results of Invisalign® in approximately 9 to 15 months. With that in mind, each patient’s needs and goals are different; some individuals may need more time to obtain their ideal results, and some may need less. It’s also very important to note that the overall length of treatment is dependent on how frequently the aligners are worn. Patients are advised to keep the aligners on the teeth for at least 22 hours a day for the best outcome in the shortest amount of time.
Cleaning your Invisalign® aligners is easy! Simply place the aligner under lukewarm, running water and gently scrub it with a toothbrush.
As a thank you to patients who choose our practice for their dental needs, we do not charge a fee to perform an initial scan that can determine whether you are a candidate for Invisalign®. The average cost of Invisalign® treatment from our dentist typically falls in the $2,500-$5,000 range. It’s important to note that many insurance companies offer at least partial coverage for orthodontic procedures, and therefore may offer benefits for Invisalign® treatment. We can help you determine whether your insurance policy provides coverage opportunities for this procedure. In addition, our practice works with CareCredit®, a renowned dental financing agency that offers a vast selection of monthly payment plans for qualified applicants.
Ultimately, the total price of Invisalign® will depend on a number of factors based on each patient’s unique needs and their customized treatment plan. These factors include the specific orthodontic concerns that are being addressed, the number of aligners that will be required, the projected duration of treatment, and other components. Once your treatment program is developed during the initial complimentary Invisalign®consultation, a member of our dental team will produce a cost estimate for Invisalign® and talk with you about the many payment options we accept. In addition to the range of acceptable payment methods and dental financing options available at our practice, we offer a discount on Invisalign® for patients who pay for the procedure in cash at the start of the treatment process. We will be happy to talk more with you about finding the most convenient payment options for your budget.
